At the board meeting of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the famous Kazakhstani weightlifter Ilya Ilyin expressed his concern about the current work of the federation and told that he was ready to become the head of the Weightlifting Federation, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.
"I worked here for two years not as a professional athlete, but as a sports manager. For two years, I have been building relationships and solving some problems in the team. For a year, we have been in an unclear situation, we have not been able to find the president of the Weightlifting Federation. One and a half years before when I got a job as a manager, I talked to the coaches, there were large-scale problems, I tried to solve the problem. One guy hung himself... I told him that we need psychologists. We have to form a team because there are problems. Later we were divided into two, then three parts. We went to the regions and I had to talk to the coaches for seven hours and explain that they must be serious for sports," said Ilyin.
He also said that weightlifting is one of the most "medal" sports in the country and called to preserve it.
"I am now turning to my colleagues, management, Altai Kulginov (Vice Prime Minister - Esq.) and Askhat Oralov (Minister of Culture and Sports), please make a decision. I have matured, I am ready to take the federation with my team. Yes, I don't have a million people , I am not rich, but I know the ins and outs of this sport. I ask for your support, set tasks. Let's choose the Olympic champion," said Ilya Ilyin.
In response, Minister of Culture and Sports Askhat Oralov said that he was ready to discuss this issue separately with Ilyin.
