It was reported that the proposal of deputies to return the name of Astana was included in the draft constitutional law with the consent of the Head of State. In this regard, the reporter of Halyq Uni sent an official inquiry to Nur-Sultan city administration asking how much money was spent on changing the name of Astana city to Nur-Sultan, documenting and replacing it, the national portal "Adyrna" reports.
According to the mayor's press service, funds for changing the name of the capital were used only for updating signs and seals, and printing services.
"In 2019, the funds for changing the name of the capital city were directed only to the renewal of signs and seals, polygraphic services. The total amount for the city was about 30 millions tenge. It should be noted that the transition to electronic document circulation does not require additional costs for the forms of state bodies, as appropriate changes have been made to the information databases," says the official response.
Let's recall that in 2019, when the name of the capital was changed, an independent expert said that it might cost 47 billion tenge (or 125 million dollars) to change the name of the capital.
"Changing the name of the capital is not cheap, the main costs are covered by the budget. Main expenditure directions: printing of new documents for citizens - about 80 million dollars (3 billion tenge); production of new signs and symbols - about 25 million dollars (9.5 billion tenge); the production of new cards is about 5 million dollars (1.9 billion tenge), - said expert Alexander Razuvaev.
It should be noted that the maslikhat of the capital will discuss the issue of changing the name of the capital with the public on September 15.
