Elzhan Birtanov said at a regular court hearing that he did not agree with the charges against him and still did not understand what law he had violated as a civil servant, the national portal Adyrna reported citing Azattyq Ruhy.
The ex-minister was initially suspected of embezzling the state budget, but he was later charged with abuse of office. However, Birtanov considers the accusation unfounded.
