Development of tourism in Mangistau region is one of the priorities of the region's economy, the press service of the region's governor reports.
As part of the state program for the development of the tourism industry, Mangistau region is among the top 10 most promising tourist regions of the country. Currently, the region gives priority to the development of seaside resorts and beach tourism on the shores of the Caspian Sea.
Following the President's instructions in August 2018 that Aktau should become a modern seaside resort, much attention was paid to the development of tourism and engineering and transport infrastructure in the region.
As a result of further development of infrastructure with the support of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, local entrepreneurs have a great opportunity to implement new tourism initiatives.
Thanks to the active development of engineering and transport infrastructure, in July 2020, the multifunctional tourist and hotel complex "Rixos Water World Aktau" with an investment of more than 60 billion tenge was launched.
In the fall of 2020, the second stage of development of the resort area began, which includes Tethys International Hub (theme park, golf club, shopping malls, hotels), BI Group (Aktau Riviera villas and apartments complex) and Bazis-A Corporation ( aqualina RESORT resort-hotel complex) major projects are being implemented.
In July 2021, the "themed amusement park" was launched. By the end of the year, a golf club, villas and Town Center shopping malls, villas and townhouses will be commissioned.
From 2004 to 2020, the number of tourists visiting the region exceeded 2.5 million. About 2 millions of them are citizens of the country (an indicator of the level of domestic tourism), the remaining more than 500 thousand people are foreign tourists.
According to the results of the 1st half of 2021, the number of visitors to the region (according to official statistics) amounted to 139 thousand people, which is 3.1 times more than the corresponding period in 2020 (January-June 2020 - 45 thousand people);
"Another important area for increasing our tourism potential is the development of eco-tourism, sacred places, cultural tourism, as well as water entertainment. It is planned to implement 13 projects worth more than billion tenge. It is planned to implement 8 projects with the participation of local companies in 2022-2024.
