French President Emmanuel Macron announced an initiative to mobilize young volunteers in support of the country’s armed forces. He made this statement during a speech to representatives of the armed forces on January 20, as reported by the national portal “Adyrna.”
In his speech, Macron emphasized the need to reassess France’s strategic approach to defense.
“Our destiny is not to be consumers, but to be sovereign nations in Europe,” Macron stressed.
He highlighted the importance of aiding Ukraine, not only in the current conflict but also to ensure it enters future negotiations from a position of strength. The president also noted that after the military operations conclude, it will be necessary to establish security guarantees for both Ukraine and Europe.
Macron declared the need to strengthen the French armed forces by engaging young volunteers. He instructed the government and the military headquarters to prepare concrete proposals by May.
