The President of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan, Gennady Golovkin, attended the opening ceremony of the first-ever U19 World Boxing Championship in Puebla, USA, reports the national portal “Adyrna.”
According to the National Olympic Committee, Golovkin emphasized the significance of the world championship in his speech, expressing confidence that this event would not only serve as a platform for discovering new talents in the sport but also symbolize unity and friendship among young boxers from various countries.
A total of 180 athletes from 30 countries are participating in the championship. Representing Kazakhstan are Yerasyl Amangaliyev (up to 55 kg), Asylkhan Kosherbay (up to 65 kg), Dias Serikuly (up to 70 kg), and Daniyal Raimbekov (up to 85 kg). Dias Serikuly was the first to enter the ring, securing a victory over Islam Dakhllad from the Algerian team.
It is worth noting that World Boxing is an international boxing federation established in April 2023. In September of this year, Kazakhstan submitted an application to join the organization.
