A senator has stated that TikTok should be blocked, reports «Adyrna» national portal.

Senator Gennady Shipovskikh expressed in a parliamentary inquiry addressed to Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov that he believes TikTok should be banned.

"TikTok is extremely popular worldwide. In our country as well, the number of users is not decreasing, but increasing. While this platform, owned by a neighboring country, is used to engage teenagers in creative fields, education, and national history, the amount of such content is like a drop in the ocean compared to other content. Most of the content on TikTok, as you’ve likely noticed, does not need me to explain its nature," said Shipovskikh.

The senator pointed out that many countries have imposed partial bans on TikTok and mentioned that the issue had been raised several times with government members, but there have been no results so far.

"TikTok must provide a clear algorithm for identifying and restricting content that promotes extremism, radicalism, separatism, and morally harmful material. The platform should also offer a separate version for children, like YouTube Kids, to protect young users from harmful online content. A mechanism should be implemented to block access to TikTok for children under 13 if they try to access it via their parents' phone, using Face ID technology. If these conditions are not met, we request the platform to be blocked in our country," the senator stated.

It is worth noting that the senator had previously written about the dangers of TikTok on his social media account.
