Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Russia Botyrjon Asadov was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. It was protested against the statement of the rector of the University of Journalism and Mass Communications, Sherzodhan Kudrathodzhaev, the correspondent of "Adyrna" reported.

Earlier, the head of the university called people living in Uzbekistan but who do not speak Uzbek as "idiots or invaders". He noted that in 1966, Uzbekistan, which was part of the Soviet Union, received many prisoners from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine.

"They were supposed to help rebuild Tashkent after the earthquake. Most of these workers stayed in Uzbekistan, but they did not learn the state language," he said.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the content and tone of such words are completely contrary to the deep strategic partnership and alliance relations that bind the two countries.

"Uzbekistan, which was part of the USSR, was able to rapidly develop production and agriculture, science and culture. Today, as an independent state, Uzbekistan has established relations with Russia based on mutual respect and equality. Therefore, we believe that the speech of Sherzodhan Kudrathodzhaev is not supported by the people of Uzbekistan, and that speech does not represent the general state of mind of Uzbeks," the Russian MFA explained.
