This autumn turned out to be very "discussive" in the religious sphere. It started with noise in social networks and media before the school year about wearing a hijab at school, and continued throughout September. And at the beginning of October, several deputies raised the topic of destructive religious currents in Kazakhstan.

MPs have previously spoken out against the religious radicalization of the country. But this time, several MPs spoke to the parliament in one week: Kazybek Isa from the "Ak Zhol" faction, Amanzhol Altai from the AMANAT faction, Ermurat Bapi and Senator Nurtore Zhusip. And all four expressed the need to legislate against those who commit attacks on traditional Islam and culture, to put a lid on radical currents that undermine our national interests, traditions, unity, and threaten the security of the state.
