Employees of the National Security Committee detained a man on suspicion of helping foreign fraudsters, reported the national portal "Adyrna" with reference to the press service of the National Security Committee.
"The National Security Committee, in agreement with the prosecutor's office, detained a citizen of Kazakhstan on suspicion of organizing and transmitting illegal telephone communications. According to reports, he helped foreign attackers to call Kazakhstan.
"For this, special equipment and malicious software were used to change foreign numbers to Kazakhstan numbers. As a result, the suspect harmed the national communication operators and made extra profit, and foreign fraudsters used his services to deceive the citizens of the republic," the press service of the NSC reported.
In the last three years, 59,000 cases of Internet fraud have been registered in the country. The incurred losses amounted to 43 billion tenge.
