At the end of his working trip to New York, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held talks with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. This was announced by the press service of Akorda, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.
At the meeting held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, the state and prospects of strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UN were discussed.
Special attention was also paid to the efforts aimed at developing collective methods of solving the current challenges.
Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev highly appreciated the work of Antonio Guterres as the UN Secretary General and expressed his full support for his initiative to convene the "Future Summit" in 2023. The President expressed confidence that the results of this important meeting will contribute to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals.
"The parties considered the implementation of the initiative of the Head of State to create a UN hub for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty. The UN Secretary General said that he supported this important initiative," the report said.
Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev invited Antonio Guterres to visit Kazakhstan.
