Azerbaijan wants to normalize relations with Armenia and is ready to sign a peace agreement. The statement came from President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Adyrna national portal reported.
During a meeting with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda in Baku, Aliyev stressed that he intended to turn the tide of hostility on the Azerbaijani side.
"We discussed the situation in the region and the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. I know that the President will visit Armenia after Azerbaijan. I am sure that after this visit a definite decision will be made. But our position is clear. We want to sign a peace agreement with Armenia, "Aliyev said.
Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced at a meeting of the country's parliament that he intended to sign a peace agreement with Azerbaijan as soon as possible.
