The Embassy of Kazakhstan in the United States issued a statement regarding stricter immigration policies and measures aimed at strengthening border protection and reducing illegal migration in the U.S., according to Adyrna.

The U.S. government has significantly tightened immigration policies. The measures target foreigners and migrants who entered the U.S. illegally. In addition to enforcement actions such as detention and deportation, restrictions on re-entering the U.S. are being introduced. Moreover, social assistance, work permits, and other social benefits are being revoked, the statement said.

The embassy emphasized that Kazakh citizens in the U.S. must strictly adhere to local laws. According to the statement, the U.S. offers foreigners residing unlawfully the opportunity to leave voluntarily.

This measure will help reduce the risk of Kazakh citizens facing deportation and prevent future bans on re-entering the U.S. when applying for a visa, the embassy noted.

In addition, several other changes were introduced:

The Remain in Mexico policy was reinstated: Migrants who crossed the U.S.-Mexico border illegally and applied for asylum in the U.S. are required to stay in Mexico while awaiting a court decision.

The Catch and Release program was terminated: Migrants detained at the border will no longer be released into U.S. territory while awaiting court decisions. Instead, they will be held in detention centers, returned to their home country, or sent to third countries.

The CBP One application was discontinued: Previously, this app allowed foreigners conditional entry into the U.S., but this option has now been removed.
