Renowned athlete Aliya Yusupova has stepped down as the head coach of Kazakhstan’s national rhythmic gymnastics team. She announced her decision on her Instagram account, according to the national portal “Adyrna.”

Aliya Yusupova expressed her joy at having prepared athletes for major competitions.

“I aimed to send my athlete to the Olympics and participate in the Games as a coach. In 2012, I was given this opportunity and took on the role of head coach of the Kazakhstan team. We achieved good results in three Olympics. I am very happy to have prepared gymnasts for the main event of the four-year cycle three times,” said Yusupova.

She thanked the people of Kazakhstan and the leadership for trusting her with this important role.

“Starting from January 2025, I will step down from the position of head coach as I want to fully focus on my work within the federation. I believe it’s time to give other coaches the opportunity to showcase their abilities. I wish everyone success,” said Aliya Yusupova.

According to the Kazakhstan Gymnastics Federation, under Yusupova’s leadership, Kazakh gymnasts achieved success on the international stage, winning multiple medals at continental championships, the Asian Games, and world tournaments.

It should be noted that on December 20, 2024, Aliya Yusupova met with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

During the meeting, the President congratulated her on being re-elected as the President of the Kazakhstan Gymnastics Federation. Aliya Yusupova also shared several proposals regarding pressing issues in the sports sector. According to her, a comprehensive effort is needed to introduce children to gymnastics at an early age.

President Tokayev emphasized the need for close cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports in developing sports infrastructure and training coaches.
