An international scientific-theoretical conference dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of Edige Tursynov, an outstanding scientist, ethnographer, Turkic scholar, was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Domestic and foreign philologists-scientists, teachers-professors and young students took part in the event organized under the name "Scientific heritage of Edige Tursynov in the methodological context of modern humanitarian sciences".
A congratulatory letter addressed to the participants of the conference was read by the Chairman of the Board - Rector of KazNU Zhanseyit Tuimebaev. "The fundamental researches of the scientist, such as "The genesis of Kazakh folk tales", "Indigenous representatives of the creators of Kazakh oral literature", were recognized not only in Kazakhstan, but also abroad, and were in great demand. In these works, the Kazakh scientist for the first time studied the thousand-year-old traditions, customs, epics and oral literature, language, music of the Siberian and Turko-Mongol peoples from the perspective of new scientific principles," said the congratulatory letter.
