Harvard students will undergo an internship in Kazakhstan

The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, ended his working trip to the USA with a meeting with representatives of Harvard University. During the event, an agreement was reached on the internship of Harvard students in Kazakhstan. This was announced by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, "Adyrna" reporter reported.

On the last working day in the USA, Minister of Politics Nurbek led by Harvard Innovation Lab, The New England Commission of Higher Education, Davis Center fo Russia and Eurasia studies Harvard Kennedy School, Douglas Dillon Professor of Public Administration Graham Allison and Harvard Kennedy School for International Finance and Development Sumitomo had a meeting with FASID professor, Director of International Development Center Azim Khwaja. During the event, the head of the department spoke about the system of higher education and science in Kazakhstan, the prospects and priorities facing the ministry. Also, in order to develop the higher education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a partnership with a leading world higher education institution was proposed.

In turn, Professor Azim Khwaja introduced the minister to the activities of the center headed by him. He noted his interest and offered to start the cooperation with the internship of Harvard students in Kazakhstan. Minister of Politics Nurbek supported this initiative.

In addition, the parties discussed possible projects for the exchange of students and scientists of higher educational institutions.

Sayasat Nurbek invited Professor Azim Khwaja to Kazakhstan to further discuss cooperation between Kazakhstani higher education institutions and Harvard University, the invitation was received positively.

After the official meetings, the minister met with Kazakhs studying at Harvard University and MIT. Students shared their impressions of studying abroad. In turn, the minister told the students about the ongoing reforms in the field of higher education and science, and emphasized the measures taken by the state to support young researchers and scientists.
