Head of State Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev in this year's Address emphasized the environmental situation and mentioned the issue of expanding the scope of landscaping. In his message, the President ordered the Government to start implementing measures to improve the environmental situation, "Adyrna" correspondent reported.
The Department of Ecology and Environment of Almaty City is fully fulfilling this task of the President.
Accordingly, the project of greening the city territory is being implemented in the region today. According to the project, it is planned to increase the share of perennial plants from 17% to 60%.
Annual and perennial plants are mainly planted in April-May, maintenance works are carried out from June to September, and flower beds are harvested and planted in October.
This year, the total volume of perennial plants increased by more than 50% - 74.3 square meters (rose - 40,600, echinacea - 7,200, lily of the valley - 4,000, lavender - 7,500, sage - 3,600, miscanthus - 5,200, hydrangea - 3 500 etc.)
In 2022, the total area of 159 thousand square meters was decorated with flowers (including care of perennial plants in previous years), and 26 thousand square meters of lawn were planted.
