Four Karakalpak activists who were held in a detention center in Kazakhstan have flown to the United States, as reported by the national portal “Adyrna.”

According to Fergana Agency, civil activists Zhanjildy Zhaksymbetov, Tileubike Yuldasheva, and Raisa Kudaibergenova spent about a year in a detention center in Almaty due to Uzbekistan’s extradition request. They have now left for the United States with their families, where they have been granted asylum.

One member of the group, Ziuar Mirmanbetova, had her flight delayed due to processing delays with her documents. Additionally, Koshkarbai Toreuratov is currently in Poland, awaiting a decision on his asylum request.
