Archaeologists have found valuable historical monuments in the mountains of Almaty region, "Adyrna" national portal reported with reference to Tengrinews.

In the mountainous region, archaeologists have explored a herder's camp that was used three thousand years ago and found "stone houses".

A group of archaeologists from the Institute named after Alkei Margulan conducted research for the first time in many years in the Serektas valley of Zhambyl district of Almaty region. As a result, in the early 2000s, the well-known archaeologist Alexey Maryashev discovered the Seriktas settlement, as well as rock paintings.

According to archaeologists, for a long time there was a lack of funds for conducting excavations in this area. However, in July of this year, work began on the neighboring Seriktas-2 site.

Scientists have found that there was a winter camp used by various tribes and nations from the Bronze Age to the Middle Ages.

"We excavated wheel-type houses. In archeology, the Begazy-Dandibaev culture of the Bronze Age is known and probably related to it, the people who lived here were engaged in cattle breeding," says Albina Yerzhanova, head of the expedition, Doctor of Science.

Scientists also shared the interior view of the ancient house.

"We looked at a large residential building covered with small stones from the inside and covered with soil from the outside. It is divided into three rooms, and there is a stone hearth in the middle of the room. A special heating system is installed," he noted.

A utility room with recesses that could be used as an analogue of a refrigerator was also identified from the house. It seems that food stocks are stored there.

In addition, many ceramic fragments were found in the house. The researchers noted that the ceramics were made of very high quality.

Based on many bone remains, as well as stone tools for processing leather, scientists came to the conclusion that the inhabitants of the Seriktas-2 settlement were engaged in animal husbandry and handicrafts.
