Rumors have been circulating online that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev might lead the United Nations in 2026, prompting speculation about an extraordinary presidential election in Kazakhstan. The president addressed this information in an interview with the Ana Tili publication, as reported by the Adyrna national portal.
“I served as the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament, heading the organization’s Geneva office for nearly three years. I gained extensive experience and deep insight into international processes. I believe that is more than sufficient. I have ambitious, long-term plans for developing our country, and I am committed to implementing them,” Tokayev stated.
