A plane belonging to Thailand’s national police aviation unit has crashed. The aircraft went down into the sea about 100 meters off the coast of Cha-Am. According to Thai PBS, all six people on board died in the tragic incident, reports the national portal “Adyrna.”
The crashed aircraft was a DHC6-400 Twin Otter. The police used this plane for operational purposes, transporting cargo and personnel. On the day of the crash, the officers on board were preparing for parachute jumps as part of a training exercise.
Rescuers arriving at the scene began search operations. Five bodies were initially recovered. Another passenger was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but later died. This brought the death toll to six.
According to police spokesman Lieutenant General Archayon Kraithong, the exact cause of the crash remains unknown. Thai law enforcement is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the full circumstances of the incident.
