China Unicom and Huawei have jointly launched the first 10G broadband network in Xiong’an New Area of Hebei Province, China, reports the national portal “Adyrna,” citing RIA Novosti via Chinese tech platform MyDrivers.
“Huawei and China Unicom have joined forces to successfully launch the first 10G broadband network in Xiong’an New Area. The 10G broadband connection is based on the world’s first 50G PON solution,” the article states.
During the network upgrade, the base architecture of the fiber-optic access network was improved, boosting the bandwidth for individual users from traditional gigabit levels to 10G. Network latency has also been reduced to the millisecond level.
The report notes that the actual download speed reached 9,834 Mbps, while the upload speed hit 1,008 Mbps. The technology is considered vital for developing future services and applications that demand high data capacity.
According to Fast Technology, the number of 5G mobile users in China has surpassed 1 billion. Over 18,000 5G+ network infrastructure projects are currently being implemented across the country, including those for industrial use. Additionally, 168 pilot projects have been funded for the development of 10G networks.
