Supporters of former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol are holding a protest, according to the “Adyrna” national portal citing Yonhap News Agency.
Protesters in Seoul have expressed their disagreement with the impeachment decision and are demanding that the politician be reinstated as head of state.
“Thousands of members of conservative groups gathered at Gwanghwamun Square in central Seoul the day after the Constitutional Court issued its ruling. According to police estimates, about 18,000 people participated in the protest held on Saturday,” the agency reported.
It should be noted that South Korea’s Constitutional Court approved the decision to impeach the president on April 4, officially removing Yoon Suk Yeol from office. A presidential election must be held within 60 days and is scheduled for June 3, 2025.
