Kazakhstani athletes achieved outstanding results at the Para Judo World Cup in Tbilisi, reports the national portal “Adyrna.”
In the women’s J2 -52 kg category, Akmaral Nauatbek became the champion. She secured the gold medal by defeating Germany’s Isobel Tay with an armlock in the final.
This was Akmaral Nauatbek’s first competition since the 2024 Paris Paralympics. She competed in a golden-lettered judogi, which is reserved exclusively for Olympic champions, once again proving her strength.
It is worth noting that Akmaral Nauatbek is the 2024 Paris Paralympics champion. Following her victory, she was honored with the “Daryn” Youth Award and the “People’s Favorite” special award.
Additionally, in the J1 -52 kg category, 18-year-old Alfiya Tilekkabyl also won gold. In the final, she defeated Victoria Potapova, who competed under a neutral flag. On her way to the final, the young athlete eliminated two Paralympic medalists from the tournament.
Among the men, Galymzhan Smagululy (J2 -82 kg) represented Kazakhstan and won silver after losing to his Latvian opponent in the final.
