According to He Xiaopeng, chairman of XPeng Motors and a deputy of the National People’s Congress, China will begin mass production of flying cars starting in 2026, as reported by the national portal “Adyrna” citing Xinhua.
XPeng Motors, known for its electric vehicle production, will first develop a flying module for the Land Aircraft Carrier (LAC) vehicle.
As per the plan, around 10,000 such devices will be produced annually. The LAC vehicle will make its debut at the Airshow China in Zhuhai.
If these plans materialize, XPeng will become the world’s first company of its kind. This year, the Chinese government aims to expand the use of low-altitude flying vehicles and complete the construction of a factory for producing flying cars.
Preliminary estimates suggest that the modular flying car will cost between 1 to 2 million yuan (approximately $138,000 to $276,000).
The vehicle will conduct its first test flights on November 12 and 17.
