The U.S. plans to sell “golden cards” that will allow wealthy foreigners to live, work, and eventually obtain citizenship in the country. President Donald Trump announced this during a press conference at the White House, according to Adyrna national portal, citing DW.
According to Trump, the price of a “golden card” will be approximately $5 million (about 2.5 million tenge).
“We are going to sell the golden card. There is a green card, but this is a golden card. We will set the price at around $5 million. This will grant you the same privileges as a green card and open a path to citizenship. Wealthy individuals will be able to come to our country by purchasing this card,” Trump said.
According to U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, the “golden card” will replace the current EB-5 investment visa program.
Trump stated that sales of these cards could begin within two weeks and expressed confidence that millions of them would be sold.
When asked whether Russian oligarchs would be able to purchase a “golden card,” Trump responded:
“Yes, possibly. I know a few Russian oligarchs, and they are very good people.”
