Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that he is not opposed to meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump, according to the Adyrna national portal.
However, he noted that such a meeting would require prior preparation.
“I would be happy to meet with Donald Trump. We haven’t seen each other in a long time. We don’t have a close relationship, but during his four years as president, we met several times and discussed our interstate relations openly and comprehensively. Today, I am also ready to meet with him. I believe he wouldn’t be against it either,” said Putin.
It is worth noting that there were earlier reports suggesting Trump and Putin might meet in Saudi Arabia to discuss the Ukraine issue.
The last meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and then-U.S. President Donald Trump took place on July 16, 2018, in Helsinki. Since then, they have not had a private meeting.
However, on February 12, 2025, they had a phone conversation during which they discussed various issues, including the situation in Ukraine.
