On November 7, newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump spoke by phone with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, reports The Washington Post (WP), according to Adyrna.
According to foreign media, the two presidents discussed the war in Ukraine. “Trump urged Putin to avoid escalating the conflict in Ukraine. They also discussed the need to achieve peace in Europe,” the report stated.
WP noted that the call was informal. Additionally, the publication mentioned that Kyiv was aware of the conversation between Trump and Putin; however, Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied this information.
“There was no prior notification to the Ukrainian side about the call. Ukraine could neither approve nor oppose the call,” said ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi.
