Car production in Kazakhstan has decreased by 2.1% compared to last year, reports the national portal “Adyrna.”

According to the Kazakhstan Automotive Association, 92,243 vehicles were produced in the first nine months of 2024. Among them:

•Passenger cars: 82,877 units (down by 16.7%),

•Trucks: 5,896 units (down by 15.2%),

•Buses: 1,838 units (down by 7.5%).

Anar Makasheva, President of the Kazakhstan Automotive Association, noted that the decline in production reflects temporary challenges in logistics, supply chains, raw materials, and parts delivery through neighboring countries.

Production volume by region:

•Kostanay (Allur) – 55,122 units (down by 16.2%),

•Almaty (Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan, Hyundai Trans Almaty) – 29,583 units (down by 21.9%),

•Semey (SemAZ, Daewoo Bus Kazakhstan) – 3,933 units (up by 36.1%),

•Karaganda region (QazTehna) – 1,008 units (up by 1.5%),

•Kokshetau (KAMAZ-Engineering) – 812 units (down by 13.7%),

•Other manufacturers – 1,755 units (up by 9.3%).

It should be noted that in 2022, it was decided to allocate 100 billion tenge from the 220 billion tenge held by the “Recycling Operator” for concessional car loans. Applications for these loans were received within just 18 seconds. Later, it was decided to redirect this fund towards leasing city buses at a reduced interest rate. According to Kanat Sharlapayev, Minister of Industry and Construction, this decision was the right one.

“The funds were used to develop public transport in cities, regions, and regional centers. I believe this was the right choice: instead of concessional loans, we improved public transport quality, meeting the needs of many of our citizens. Thus, we closed the issue of concessional loans a year and a half ago, directing funds solely to public transport development,” the minister said.
