Residents in the Kale district of Malatya Province felt the 5.9-magnitude earthquake at 10:46 a.m. local time. The earthquake’s epicenter was located 45 kilometers from Malatya, at a depth of 9 kilometers.
Yesterday, 30 aftershocks were observed, resulting in damage to three buildings. Local residents and authorities are keeping the situation under control and preparing to provide emergency assistance. Seismic activity with a magnitude of over 6.0 is considered dangerous in eastern Turkey.
