A 5.9-magnitude earthquake was recorded in eastern Turkey, as reported by the national portal “Adyrna.” The emergency occurred on October 16. Residents in the Kale district of Malatya Province felt the 5.9-magnitude earthquake at 10:46 a.m. local time. The earthquake’s epicenter was located 45 kilometers from Malatya, at a depth of 9 kilometers.

Yesterday, 30 aftershocks were observed, resulting in damage to three buildings. Local residents and authorities are keeping the situation under control and preparing to provide emergency assistance. Seismic activity with a magnitude of over 6.0 is considered dangerous in eastern Turkey.

Authorities have advised citizens to be prepared for potential earthquakes in the coming hours and days. It is worth noting that a devastating earthquake struck Turkey on February 6, 2023, causing widespread destruction across cities.
