In Almaty, a swindler who sold fake branded goods for 114 million tenge was sentenced, reported the national portal "Adyrna" referring to the press service of the city court.
"The court found the defendant H. guilty under clause 2 of part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to imprisonment for five years and six months. This sentence was imposed in a reduced form, including taking into account the absence of a previous criminal record," the report said.
According to them, the defendant met the victim K while working as a brand director in one of the magazines, and thanks to the friendship they formed, they took part in public events together in Almaty and abroad.
Kh., who introduced himself as an employee of fashion houses and brand stores. He promised to give original jewelry and branded goods to new acquaintances at cheaper prices than in official stores.
According to reports, one of the victims gave him 14.5 million tenge for a bag, which turned out to be a fake brand. According to the same scheme, seven more episodes of fraud totaling 114 million tenge were recorded in the defendant's account.
The accused pleaded not guilty, saying that he only delivered goods as a courier.
