The former head of the Zhetisu regional education department was sentenced to 11 years in prison, reported the national portal "Adyrna" referring to the press service of the Supreme Court.
By the decision of the specialized inter-district criminal court of the region, the defendant was found guilty under Part 4 of Article 366 and Part 3 of Article 24 of the Criminal Code.
"The former head of the education department found out that the accountant and his two accomplices had embezzled a large amount of budget funds (a separate criminal case is being conducted against them on the fact of embezzlement). Taking advantage of his position, he demanded that the accountant resign from his position or pay a bribe of 380 millions tenge for his patronage. "The accountant and his accomplices collected 200 million tenge and gave it to the head of the department through the driver of the car," the information says.
Later, when the manager demanded the remaining amount of the bribe, the accountant turned to the law enforcement agencies and the manager was arrested when he received a bribe of 80 millions tenge.
