In about ten cities of Iran, including Tehran, residents held demonstrations demanding an increase in pensions and other social payments, as well as improving working conditions. This was announced by Iran International, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.

The protests took place on Sunday, July 7, as part of the second round of the extraordinary presidential election, which ended with the victory of reformer Masoud Pezeshkian (Pezeshkian). The march was attended by pensioners and unemployed people who used to work in petrochemical enterprises.

The protesters demanded an increase in pensions and benefits to the actual poverty line, free and quality health care, job security, and wage increases.
