The water level in the Zhabai river in the Akmola region rose sharply, and water entered the city of Atbasar. In this regard, the Akim of the city Amanbek Kalzhanov declared a state of emergency in the region and sent an appeal to the people, reports the national portal "Adyrna".

Around five in the morning today, the dam made of earth broke in 6 places and the red water did not flow. Immediately, the alarm system was activated in the city. 7 temporary accommodation points have been organized and residents of flooded houses are being evacuated. The akim of the district immediately appealed to the people and called on the people in the dangerous area to move quickly. More than 400 people and 100 machines have been mobilized for water pumping. A local state of emergency has been declared.

"Due to a sharp rise in the water level in the Wild River, water spread over 6 plots of land around 4:43 am. As a result, the city was flooded. The water level has risen to a dangerous 5.95 meters. Still rising. In this regard, the residents of the flooded area are advised to move to safer places," said the mayor.

The mayor said that special evacuation places have been prepared for residents. At the same time, he informed that the flood-affected people will be given help and their houses will be restored.

According to the latest information of the regional administration, the water level has risen to 6.1 meters. The dangerous level is 4.45 meters.

It should be noted that this is the third time Atbasar has been flooded. Before that, the city was flooded in 2014 and 2017. About 130 houses near the river bank were flooded. More than 100 people were evacuated. Some residents did not agree to leave their homes.
