In the Aitekebi district of the Aktobe region, cracks appeared above the sluice of the Shcherbakovo dam, reported the national portal "Adyrna" with reference to the Ministry of Emergencies of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The forces of emergency services have pre-evacuated 149 people from 45 private houses in the villages of Taldysay and Zhurgenov.
"At 9:40 p.m., the dam collapsed and water began to pour into the Yrgyz River on the outskirts of the village of Zhurgenov. Local government forces began to evacuate residents from these villages. 251 people, including 87 children, 320 cattle, 340 small animals, and 606 birds were evacuated on their own.
