President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev met with former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in China. Akorda announced this, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.
"The head of state met with Ban Ki-moon, the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations, Chairman of the Boao Asian Forum, President of the Assembly of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI)," the statement said on Thursday.
Thanking Ban Ki-moon for inviting him to participate in the Boao Forum, Tokayev noted his significant services to the world community as the UN Secretary General.
"In my opinion, you served as one of the best Secretary-Generals in the history of the United Nations. Working under your leadership for two and a half years was a wonderful period and a great honor for me," said the President.
