Today, a festive event was held on the eve of International Women's Day at the Kazakh National Girls' Pedagogical University. For the first time, the award of the National Academy of Sciences for women scientists named after Naylya Bazanova, the first female academician of Kazakhstan and Central Asia, was awarded.
The ceremony was organized online and offline. More than 70 leading women scientists from different regions of the country took part in it and were awarded with certificates of honor of the National Academy of Sciences.
In his speech, the President of the National Academy of Sciences Akylbek Kurishbaev emphasized that the International Women's Day has been considered an official holiday in our country for many years and that the beautiful nature of mankind is considered a day of spring, beauty, tenderness, and spiritual wisdom.
Until the beginning of the 20th century, women were not allowed to approach science and they were considered incompetent. Women scientists at that time had to overcome many obstacles and take male pseudonyms. Women's work and discoveries are often published on behalf of male scientists.
The special award for women scientists named after Nailya Bazanova was established in order to stimulate the further development of domestic science.
