NASA's Perseverance rover has collected data indicating the presence of ancient lake sediments on Mars. A report on this was published on the website of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), reports the national portal "Adyrna".

The collected data, in particular, supports scientists' hypothesis that some parts of Mars were once covered with water and that the planet could support microbial life.

After five years of extensive research, NASA has identified Jezero Crater as the landing site for the Perseverance rover.

Scientists have been saying for many years that this hole is filled with water and an ancient river flows.

The rover's exploration of Jezero Crater has confirmed the presence of ancient lake sediments, providing new hope for the existence of life on Mars.

Jezero crater is located on the border of Big Syrt (to the east) and Isis Plain (to the west). The diameter of the crater is 45 km.
