Procedure for organizing and holding peaceful meetings in the Republic of Kazakhstan


On May 5, 2020, the Law "On the organization and conduct of peaceful assemblies in the Republic of Kazakhstan" was adopted.

This Law is aimed at exercising the right of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan to assemble peacefully and without weapons, to hold meetings, rallies and demonstrations, marches and pickets, established by the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The law provides for notified and regulated procedures for holding peaceful assemblies.

In the first case, the organizer of meetings, rallies and pickets must notify the local executive body of their holding no later than 5 working days before the date of the event, and the organizer of the event for demonstrations and demonstrations must send them no later than 10 working days.
