The pedestal of the monument to ex-president Nursultan Nazarbayev was taken in Taldykorgan. This was announced by the KazTAG agency, reports the national portal "Adyrna".
"The pedestal on which Nazarbayev's monument stands until 2022 in Taldykorgan was destroyed. Dismantling of the structure was carried out at night, before that the lighting in this area was turned off," reported KazTAG correspondent in the region.
Nazarbayev's monument in Taldykorgan was vandalized during the January 2022 incident. The pedestal survived and remained in place. The issue of its dismemberment has been raised many times by the residents of the city. However, it took more than two years for local authorities to decide to demolish it.
Since the park is located close to the street named after Abai, the people of Taldykorgan propose to erect a monument to Abay here. They also suggested planting a flower bed and trees on the vacant land.
Let's recall that after the monument of the ex-president of Kazakhstan was vandalized during the January 2022 incident in Taldykorgan, by the end of 2023, the former monument of the self-proclaimed "leader" was vandalized in the National Territory. In addition, the portrait of Nazarbayev was removed from the Almaty metro at the Defense University in Astana, and it became known that on February 1, 2024, the monument of the former President was also removed from the atrium of the National Museum.
Also, on February 2, an installation about the fall of Nazarbayev was presented in Almaty.
