The Khorgos section of the free trade zone in Xinjiang, China, has welcomed the first group of interns from the International Kazakh-Chinese Language College, according to the “Adyrna” national portal, citing Xinhua News Agency.
For three months, 30 students from this college will enhance their professional skills at several local enterprises.
Before coming to Xinjiang (North-West China), the interns underwent a special preparatory course. They have acquired good communication skills in Chinese and basic professional knowledge in cross-border e-commerce and international trade.
During the internship, Kazakh students will gain experience in cross-border e-commerce and digital marketing. They will familiarize themselves with real production conditions and comprehensively study the demand for Chinese enterprises to enter foreign markets. Each student will be assigned a mentor at the enterprises.
According to the plan of the Khorgos Free Trade Zone, outstanding foreign students who stand out during their internship will have the opportunity to stay and work at the enterprises where they interned. This will open doors for them to secure a job immediately after graduation.
“This is a new initiative in the field of international professional education. It is aimed at training well-rounded specialists for the countries participating in the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative,” said Yan Chunmei, a representative of the Khorgos Economic Development Area.
He also mentioned that in the future, a “Belt and Road” professional education alliance will be established with the participation of higher educational institutions from Central Asian countries. This alliance will serve as a permanent platform for faculty exchanges, the development of joint curricula, and academic exchanges.
