President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey in Baku, as reported by the Akorda, according to the Adyrna national portal.

President Tokayev expressed his pleasure at meeting with the leader of brotherly Turkey in Baku, noting that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkey. “Our fraternal relationship continues to develop dynamically. There is a constructive dialogue at the political level, and cooperation between our governments is growing. Turkey is one of Kazakhstan’s top five trade partners. Last year, bilateral trade reached $6 billion,” said Tokayev.

Additionally, he emphasized Turkey’s significant investment in Kazakhstan’s economy and noted that investment projects involving Turkish businesses are under his personal supervision.

President Erdogan highlighted that relations between Kazakhstan and Turkey are developing strategically, with great potential to further strengthen trade and economic cooperation. “Dear brother, I am confident that during the 5th session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, which will take place next year in Ankara, we will reach important agreements in agriculture, defense, energy, transport-logistics, as well as cultural-humanitarian sectors. We aim to increase trade turnover with Kazakhstan to $15 billion,” Erdogan stated.

Erdogan also mentioned that Turkish companies are successfully operating in various sectors of Kazakhstan’s economy. He noted Turkish businesses’ readiness to contribute to Kazakhstan’s agricultural sector, share expertise in nuclear power plant construction, and establish mutually beneficial partnerships in oil and gas transportation.

The two leaders also exchanged views on pressing issues on the international and regional agenda and agreed to support each other within multilateral frameworks.
