Emperor of Tea. The author of the "Lipton" brand. Thanks to Mr. Thomas Lipton, tea reached the masses. Before that, it was a "sacred drink" that only the aristocracy drank. He is an innovator who invented selling tea in a box, an entrepreneur who introduced mass production of tea deposits in small bags hung on a string.

Thomas Johnstone Lipton was born on May 10, 1850 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Schooled until 1860, Thomas Lipton worked in a small textile factory in Glasgow from the age of 10.

At that time, the whole of Western Europe was a prisoner of romantic stories about America. When someone visited the country across the Atlantic Ocean, everyone surrounded him and listened to his story with sweet imagination. At the age of 15, the boy Thomas, who was fed up with stories about the magical world, got on one of the ships carrying cargo between two continents and headed west.

The United States did not welcome the young alien with open arms. The situation in the states, which have been completely destroyed by the civil war, is difficult. Collapsed economy, deep crisis. Nevertheless, the state needs manpower. Young Lipton first worked in the tobacco fields of Virginia and then in the rice fields of South Carolina. In 1868, he worked as a salesman in a large department store in New York. Having entered the bustling center of trade, he learns how to communicate with customers, starting with how to place goods on store shelves. "We trust in God alone, the rest of you pay in cash!" This is when he gets acquainted with the famous catchphrase. The first part of this catchword is still written on American currency.

Having mastered sales systems and advertising, Thomas returned to Scotland when he turned 21, pocketing the £180 he had saved abroad. After distributing the gifts he brought from the USA to his parents, he opens a new store in Glasgow. The name of the store is "Lipton". He is a seller, he is a trucker, he is a boss, he is a cashier.
