It was reported that Kazakhstan is among the five countries that pay the highest amount to Olympic medalists, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.
CNBC published some of the amounts based on information gathered from National Olympic Committees, Sports Associations.
Hong Kong ranks first as the most generous country for athletes. There, athletes are promised 768 thousand dollars for the first place. Hong Kong athletes won two gold and two bronze medals at the Olympics this year.
Singapore also rewards its Olympians generously. There, 745 thousand dollars will be paid for gold. However, none of the Singaporean athletes climbed to the top of the podium at these games. A single bronze medal brings its owner 186 thousand dollars.
Indonesia, which previously paid $746,000 for a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, has reduced its bonus to $300,000. However, this figure still made it one of the countries with the highest remuneration.
Kazakhstan is the leader among the CIS countries in terms of the amount of remuneration paid to Olympic winners, and in the world it is second only to Israel, in addition to the above-mentioned countries. Thanks to regular and substantial payments, Kazakhstan has become one of the top 5 countries that pay the most to Olympic medalists.
