US President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed an agreement on cooperation on security and long-term support of Ukraine at the G7 summit in Italy. The video of the ceremony of signing the agreement was distributed by American and Ukrainian journalists, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.

According to the Daily Mail, this agreement is designed to ensure that the future US administration will support Ukraine even if former President Donald Trump wins the November election.

The agreement is seen as a "bridge" to Ukraine's future NATO membership and will last for ten years.

What is included in the document?

Training of the Ukrainian military: The US will continue to train and train the Ukrainian military.
Strengthening military industry: expanding cooperation between countries in the field of military industry.
Intelligence sharing: deepening intelligence sharing.
In addition, in the event of an attack on Ukraine or the threat of such an attack, representatives of Kyiv and Washington commit to an emergency meeting within 24 hours to discuss possible US assistance.
Notably, the agreement does not include US commitments to use US military forces to defend Ukraine, and it does not include Washington's financial obligations to Kiev.

At a press conference after the signing, Joe Biden announced that the G7 countries had approved the allocation of $50 billion to Ukraine this year for a percentage of Russia's frozen assets, which he noted was the initiative of the United States.

According to media reports, the agreement will form the basis of a long-term effort to help develop Ukraine's military and will be a step towards Ukraine's eventual membership in NATO.
