111 years ago (1910-1982) the glorious commander of the Second World War, military man, writer, Hero of the Soviet Union, People's Hero, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan Baurzhan Momyshuly was born, the national portal "Adyrna" reports with reference to Kazinform.
He was born in Zhualy district of Zhambyl region. He graduated from the Leningrad Financial Academy, the Higher Military Academy under the General Staff of the Soviet Army.
In 1936 he enlisted in the Red Army and served as a platoon, company commander, assistant chief of staff, instructor of the Kazakh military commissariat. At the beginning of the war he took an active part in the formation of the 316th Rifle Division (later the 8th Guards) and went to the front as part of that division.
He took part in the battles near Moscow and was the commander of the battalion and regiment of the 8th Panfilov Guards Division. In 1944-1945 he headed this division. His military prowess, ingenuity and personal heroism during the war stood out, and his heroic fame became legendary.
The works of art written by the hero have been translated into several foreign languages. He wrote his works in both Russian and Kazakh languages. He has the books "Our Family", "Flying Nest", "General Panfilov", "Cuban Impressions", "Battle for Moscow", "Maidan", "Tolegen Tokhtarov".

A large museum of Baurzhan Momyshuly was opened in Zhualy district of Zhambyl region. On the eve of the 100th anniversary of the glorious hero, Baurzhan Momyshuly's 30-volume academic works were published in full on September 22, 2010 by the publishing house "Oner".
On October 29, 2010 the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted a screening of the documentary film "Kazakh Baurzhan" dedicated to the great son of the Kazakh people Baurzhan Momyshuly.
He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner, the Red Banner of Labor, the Friendship of Peoples, the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, twice the Red Star, the Order of the Badge of Honor and medals.
