The Turkic World Poetry Festival held in Tashkent has concluded, reports the Adyrna National Portal.
Poets from Turkic-speaking countries once again gathered in the capital of Uzbekistan. This poetry celebration, held every two years, was organized for the 16th time this year. The main organizers of the festival were the Turkish Writers’ Union, the Uzbek Writers’ Union, and Turkey’s Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the TIKA organization. The festival was supported by the TURKSOY International Organization.
Since 1992, TURKSOY has been organizing the “Turkic Poetry” festival. Over the years, this poetry event has been hosted in major cities of fraternal countries such as Almaty, Turkestan, Bursa, Bishkek, and Baku.
More than 90 poets participated in the grand event, which featured four different poetry contests.
As a result of the festival, one of the three Grand Prizes—the “Golden Pen” Mehmet Doğan Award—was awarded to Ulugbek Yesdaulet. Additionally, he was granted an honorary certificate as a “Distinguished Member of the Turkish Writers’ Union.”
Ulugbek Yesdaulet shared his thoughts on his social media page, saying:
“I understand that the festival organizers honored me in connection with my unnoticed 70th anniversary.”
Ulugbek Yesdaulet is a poet, journalist, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, laureate of the State Prize of Kazakhstan, and recipient of the Lenin Komsomol Prize of Kazakhstan. He is the author of books such as “The Great Day of the Nation,” “White Caravan,” “Creation,” “Explosions in the Heart,” “The Felt Book,” and the poetry collection “Achilles’ Heel.”
From 2018 to 2023, he served as the Chairman of the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan.
