Minister of Energy Almasadam Satkaliyev expressed his opinion regarding the construction of the NPP in an interview with reporters after the Government meeting today, the national portal "Adyrna" reported.
"One of the projects that the government is focusing on is the construction of a nuclear power plant. There is an appropriate road map, and now a public hearing will be held on the selection of the place where the facility will be built. A further decision will be made following the results of that public hearing and after the Government's consultation with experts. The tender currently held by "Nuclear Power Plants of Kazakhstan" is still valid. There are several potential bidders out there. We talked a lot about building a nuclear power plant. "We have expanded the number of participants in the competition and are working within the framework of the Road Map," said the Minister of Energy.
Let's recall that earlier, Nurlan Zhakypov, chairman of the board of JSC "Samruk-Kazyna", before talking about the construction of the nuclear power plant, first asked "Does Kazakhstan need such a facility?" said that it is necessary to answer the question.
