The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Aibek Smadiyarov, spoke about Kazakhstanis who fell into labor slavery in Southeast Asia, Tengrinews.kz reported.
"Two of our citizens fell into labor slavery in the so-called golden triangle of Southeast Asia. At the end of December last year, they got in touch with our embassy in Thailand. Their parents also asked us to find them. What can we say: this is not the first case. You all remember very well, a few months ago one of our citizens found herself in the same situation. We helped her all over the country to get out of there," Smadiyarov said on the sidelines of the government.
The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the issue was under special control of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Thailand.
"Now the situation is not simple, they need the assistance of not only government agencies, but also non-governmental organizations. This is not the first case. There are not only citizens of Kazakhstan, from different countries. The issue requires a comprehensive solution. The Consul talked to these guys. So far they have not contacted this year, we hope that the issue will be resolved positively," Aibek Smadiyarov added.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned Kazakhstanis: before going abroad to work, one should carefully study all contracts. "Because it is your personal responsibility, which can go sideways to you," the department emphasizes.
