A monument dedicated to the crew members of the AZAL aircraft that crashed in December 2024 was unveiled on June 26 near Aktau Airport, according to “Adyrna.”
According to the Mangystau Region Public Communications Center, the monument honors Azerbaijan’s national heroes — pilot Alexander Kalyaninov and chief flight attendant Hokume Aliyeva.
The solemn opening ceremony of the memorial near Aktau was attended by relatives of the victims, representatives of the aviation industry, and members of the local community. Participants observed a minute of silence in memory of the deceased and laid flowers at the monument.
